QRBell iOS App Privacy Policy
Version 1.0 · Effective 21 August 2026
1. Introduction
QRBell ("we", "our", or "us") is a smart, secure QR-code-based visitor communication service — scan, connect, and speak with visitors instantly — operated by India Tax Info Private Limited. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, share, and protect your personal information when you use the QRBell iOS app, available on the Apple App Store, and the QRBell website (qrbell.co.in).
2. Information We Collect
Information You Provide
- Phone number and country code — required for account registration and OTP-based identity verification
- Full name — used for your account profile displayed inside the app
- Email address — used for account registration/login, account recovery, and service communications
- Password — if you register using email and password, stored securely using industry-standard hashing; we never store it in plain text
- Family member details — name, relationship, phone number (optional), email address (optional), and the access permissions you configure
- QR code location — only if you choose to tag a QR code with a location; entirely optional and user-initiated
- Support ticket content — text you submit when raising support requests
- Auto-reply messages — custom text you configure to be sent automatically to visitors
Information Collected Automatically
- Call history — timestamps, duration, and status (answered, missed, or declined)
- Visitor device information — when a visitor scans your QR code, we log their IP address and browser user agent for security and abuse prevention. If their browser shares location, GPS coordinates may also be logged
- Push notification identifiers — technical tokens used solely to deliver alerts to your device, including a separate identifier used only to wake the app for an incoming call while it's backgrounded or not running
- Crash and diagnostic data — device model, OS version, and app state at the time of a crash, used to fix bugs and improve stability
- Payment references — an order ID and payment ID for transaction verification; we never store your card number, bank details, or UPI credentials
Information Collected During Calls
- Camera and microphone — accessed only during an active video or audio call with a visitor. Streams are transmitted live and are not recorded or stored by us
- Camera for QR scanning — used to scan QR codes within the app for management purposes. Scanning happens entirely on-device — no image or frame is ever uploaded or stored by us
3. How We Use Your Information
- To create and manage your QRBell account
- To authenticate your identity via phone/email OTP verification, or your email and password
- To deliver real-time incoming visitor call notifications to your device
- To enable real-time video and audio calls
- To enable in-app QR code scanning for QR code management
- To display your call history and activity log within the app
- To manage family members and their access permissions
- To tag your QR codes with a physical location, only when you explicitly configure one
- To process subscription payments and verify transactions
- To send service-related notifications, transaction receipts, and security alerts
- To diagnose crashes and improve app stability
- To respond to your support tickets and requests
- To enforce visitor blocking by logging visitor IP addresses
- To comply with applicable legal obligations
We do not use your personal information for advertising, profiling, or any purpose beyond what is described in this policy.
4. App Permissions
- Camera (Required) — Live video calls with visitors; on-device QR code scanning. No images or video are stored.
- Microphone (Required) — Live audio/video calls. Audio is streamed in real time and never recorded.
- Notifications (Required) — Incoming visitor call alerts and service notifications.
- Location (When In Use) (Optional) — Only used when you explicitly tag a QR code with your current location, or search for nearby services. Never accessed in the background, never continuously tracked.
- Photo Library (Optional, add-only) — Used when you save a QR code image or sticker to your Photos. We cannot read, browse, or access any existing photo in your library.
You can grant or revoke any permission at any time in iOS Settings → QRBell. Revoking Camera or Microphone will disable the associated calling functionality.
5. QR Code Data Handling
- QR code identifier — a unique ID linking the code to your account, encoded in the QR image, used to route an incoming call to you
- QR code image — stored securely; it contains only the QR code ID and a link to the visitor-facing call page, never your name, phone number, or other personal identifier
- QR code location (optional) — stored only if you attach one; removable at any time
- QR code label — any name you assign, visible only to you and your family members
- Visitor scan events — timestamp, IP address, and browser user agent, used for security and to display your call history
Privacy guarantee: your phone number, email, and identity are never embedded in a QR code or exposed to any visitor who scans it. Visitors interact only with an anonymous call interface.
6. Account Owners, Visitors, and Family Members
Account Owners: Phone number, name, email, call history, QR configurations, subscription status, and family member list.
Customers / Visitors: Visitors scan a QR code to call — no account or app install required on their end. We collect their IP address and browser user agent at scan time, and GPS location only if their browser shares it. Visitor data is never used for advertising and is never linked to a persistent identity beyond the call log.
Family Members: Name and relationship (entered by the account owner), optional phone number and email, and the access permissions configured for them. A family member may log in independently with their own phone number and OTP.
7. Camera and Microphone Access
QRBell uses your camera and microphone for two purposes: (1) video/audio calls with visitors — never recorded, transmitted live — and (2) QR code scanning within the app, processed entirely on-device, with no frame ever uploaded or stored. Revoking camera permission disables both calling video and QR scanning; revoking microphone disables audio calling.
8. Data Sharing
We do not sell, trade, or rent your personal information. We share data only as needed to operate the service, when required by law, to protect safety, or in a business transfer (with prior notice). Your phone number is never shared with or displayed to visitors who scan your QR code.
Categories of processing carried out on our behalf include: real-time call transmission, push notification delivery, crash and diagnostic reporting, payment processing, SMS/OTP delivery, and secure cloud storage of QR code images. Each is used solely for the purpose described in this policy, and none of these processes are permitted to use your data for their own advertising or profiling.
9. Push Notifications
QRBell sends push notifications to alert you when a visitor calls. Incoming-call alerts use a dedicated wake mechanism (Apple's PushKit) so the app can ring even when backgrounded or fully closed — required by Apple for CallKit-based calling apps. You can disable notifications anytime in iOS Settings → QRBell → Notifications, though disabling them will prevent incoming call alerts while the app isn't open.
10. Data Retention
- Account data — retained for the lifetime of your account
- Family member data — retained until removed or the account is deleted
- Call history — up to 12 months, subject to your subscription plan
- QR code location data — until you remove it
- Payment references — up to 7 years, as required by Indian financial record-keeping law
- Crash reports — 90 days
- Push tokens — until you log out or uninstall the app
- Support tickets — up to 2 years
- Visitor scan logs (IP, user agent) — up to 90 days
On account deletion, your personal data is permanently deleted within 30 days, except where retention is legally required (e.g. payment records).
11. Data Security
- All data in transit is encrypted via HTTPS/TLS
- Authentication tokens are stored securely on-device using iOS Keychain
- Passwords are stored using industry-standard hashing, never in plain text
- We never store call audio or video content at any point
- Payment card and banking details are never stored on our servers
12. Your Rights
You may request access to, correction of, deletion of, or export of your personal data, and may withdraw consent for anything based on it (e.g. location tagging) at any time. To exercise any of these rights, email contact@qrbell.co.in — we respond within 30 days of a verified request.
13. Account Deletion
You can delete your account directly within the app (Settings → Delete Account), or by emailing contact@qrbell.co.in with the subject "Delete My Account." We confirm deletion within 7 business days. Deleted data includes your profile, QR codes, call history, family members, and settings — some data may remain in encrypted backups for up to 30 days, and payment records are retained up to 7 years as legally required.
14. Children's Privacy
QRBell is intended for users aged 13 and older. Registration requires a mobile phone number and OTP verification. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13; if we become aware that we have, we take steps to delete it promptly. Parents/guardians with concerns can contact contact@qrbell.co.in.
15. Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy to reflect changes in our practices, applicable law, or app features. Material changes will update the "Effective Date" above, and where required by law, we'll seek your consent before implementing them.
